Flashback Friday: My Family 1970

My Mom, Dad, little sis in pink, big sis in the dark blue, me in the pigtails.

I remember thinking how beautiful my Mom was that night. She must have been just 30 years old here. Her dark hair was always such a contrast with her bright blue eyes. She wore her sparkly clip-on earrings that night (as you can see).  I loved when she wore jewelry. She looked so fancy. She also had a fox fur collared and cuffed, cranberry red coat she wore when she was being fancy. The fur was so soft . I remember her wearing it in the car and I would lean forward out of my seat and smoosh my face into it before she could catch me. I am sure we did lots of face smooshing that night until she wanted to smack us. We liked when she was all dressed up and fancy because she usually waited to smack us when we got home. Love you Mom.

  1. That yellow dress had a knife pleat skirt. VERY fancy. My first week in Dublin I went to a fashion show at a chi chi night club and there was a woman there with long dark hair and a bright yellow dress with knife pleats. I told her she looked just like my mom did in the 60's. Maybe if I had shown her this pic she wouldn't have gotten so annoyed =) I honestly thought that was the look she was going for.

  3. Oh,that is funny. Maybe you should have said she looked retro or very Mad Men like. Sometimes women don't like to be told they look like your Mom. Just a suggestion. ;)

  4. Thanks Heidi, I think we were at a Christmas party. It must have been a fancy night out because we are all sparkly. We all have our hair done and we are in clean dresses. No small feat there. I have a hard time getting one little girl ready to go out. Good job Mom.

  5. We were all scrubbed and shiny. My hair even had rollers put in it to get this look. This was at the school Mom taught at (and we went to). Was it a recital night?

  6. Christmas program night as I remember. Since I was a teacher, we had to look spiffy. the princess style hid my 4 1/2 month pregnancy. the girls always acted well in public when we did these things. The coat actually kept me warm in the bay area damp and cold. There were some good times during that 4 years. Thanks girls. Mom
